Feeling suicidal, a man tries to kill himself by jumping off a high-rise building. He miraculously survives the fall.

Why dont the police charge with attemted suicide?

He tripped and fell on his way over to the edge of the high rise and changed his mind afterwards. Therefore he survived the fall and never actually attempted suicide. My other guess was he is Superman:-D

Maybe he was wearing a parachute or something similiar so he survived the fall and it didnt appear to anyone else that he wanted to commit suicide.

Hmmm, well I guess the real question here is, "Do the police EVER charge someone with attempted suicide?". I mean, come on, the guy obviously already feels pretty bad, so I'm sure getting arrested and charged is gonna cheer him up.

What really happens in these cases? Don't the police or courts just order counselling instead?

well it was batman and he jumped of a buliding to save a batgirl when he was in the air he forget batman being 1 of only a few superheros that could not fly lol shouts for some 1 2 save him and to his rescure superman comes to the save him so the police seeing this are caught up in the love of seeing 2 superheroes in 1 night dont charge him with attempted suicide as if thay did batman would be off the streets of gotham city and the joker would get away with all his evil plans muhahahahahaha

there was bomb in the building and he was about to comit suicide but it blew up so the police were at the seen looking for the bomb but when they saw him it looked like the explosion hit him off the building.and he survives because he falls safetly into a truck where bomb defusers were

OK - three more scenarios that fit the limited data we have (in order of likelyhood).

1> The building was burning; it was burning because it was being blown up; it was being blown up because it there was a gate from the abyss with demons pouring out in the basement and they wanted to close it. The guy jumps and a flying demon catches him. Demons decides since he wants to die, the worst thing he can do is make sure he lives so he throwns him in the side door of the police helecopter... Good one, huh?

2> The guy was not charged with attempted suicide, he was charged with murder. It was window washing day. He jumped onto the window cleaners scaffold, knocking the window cleaner off and killing him instead.

3> He landed on the stuntman's airbag; the police did not realize he was not Bruce Willis' double for the movie "Die Even More Harderish 12" that they were filming that day.

That is EXACTLY what I meant when I said the building was on fire; why would I have to also state the obvious police assumption that he was trying to escape the fire? Otherwise the fire reference would be meaningless. (everyone else made that assumption...)
