History
There are two different, contradictory accounts that explain how the Millennium Items were created.
In an early chapter of the manga (Duel 14: The Man From Egypt (Part 2) in Volume 2: The Cards With Teeth), Shadi explains that the Millennium Items were created by the magicians of the pharaohs in Ancient Egypt to punish thieves who rob the pharaohs' tombs. Shadi says that this is written in the Pert Em Hiru, or Coming Forth By Day (the Egyptian title of The Book of The Dead). The first series anime also uses this story.
The later chapters of the manga (published as Yu-Gi-Oh! Millennium World in North America) and the second series anime explain the origin differently, performing a retcon With Egypt under threat from invading armies in 3,000 years ago (5,000 in English Version), the Pharaoh Akhenamkhanen (Aknamkanon in the English anime) sought to protect his land through mystical means, and laid down the command for the seven magical Millennium Items to be forged. Akhenamkhanen's brother, Akhenaden (Aknadin) was charged with creating the items, but Akhenaden refrained from informing his brother that in order to do so, ninety-nine human sacrifices were required. The village of Kul Elna became the victim of the Pharaoh's unwitting decree, as Akhenaden had them slaughtered, their blood, bone and flesh melted in with the gold that was cast in the mystic rite that formed the items (in the English anime, to replace this gory concept, it is the spirits of the slaughtered which are harnessed to complete the rite that forges the items).
With Akhenamkhanen possessing the Millennium Puzzle, the remaining six items were entrusted to his high priests - the Millennium Ring was held by Mahado (Mahad in English anime), the Millennium Rod by Siamun Muran (Shimon Muran), the Millennium Tauk (Millennium Necklace) by Isis, the Millennium Key by Shada, the Millennium Scale by Kalim (Karim) and the Millennium Eye by Akhenaden himself. Using the Items' combined power, an army of Duel Monsters was summoned which repelled the invading foes of Egypt. However, upon discovering the dark truth behind the Items' creation, Akhenamkhanen attempted to atone by offering his soul up to the Egyptian Gods as penance, sparing his son from any future retribution for his own indirection actions.
When his father died, the Pharaoh Atem was given the Millennium Puzzle, and in time, Siamon Muran relinquished the Millennium Rod to the hands of Seto, a young priest who was, unknown to everyone, including himself, the son of Akhenaden, who became a strong friend of Atem, though both young men remained unaware that they were cousins. Thief King Bakura, a survival of the slaughter in Kul Elna, stole the holy duel disk from the tomb of Akhenamkhanen. By using it, Bakura could summon the ka, or soul, sealed in slates in the tomb of Akhenamkhanen and the demon Diabound, which created by the ka of the deceased people in Kul Elna. After failing to beat Atem, he defeated Mahado and acquired the Millennium Ring. Then, using the Millennium Ring, Bakura injected evil thoughts into Akhenaden's Millennium Eye to corrupt his mind. Akhenaden wanted his son, Seto, to become the new Pharaoh, so he helped Bakura defeat the other priests and Atem, then he placed the Millennium Items upon the stone slab to summon the Dark God Zorc. While Zorc attempted to decimate the planet, Atem used his own name and the magics of the Shadow Games, within the Millennium Items, sealed his own soul in the Millennium Puzzle and Zorc in hell, wiping his memory so that he could not recall it, so that the binding might never be undone.
With Atem's eventual death, the Millennium Puzzle was entombed along with him in his crypt in the Valley of the Kings. And in a chamber beneath the village of Kul Elna, a sculpted stone rested - should the seven Millennium Items be placed upon it, along with the eighth key, the Pharaoh's name, Zorc would be free again.
The magic of the Shadow Games was unleashed when the Millennium Puzzle was solved by Yugi Mutou in the present day, and he embarked on a series of adventures that eventually resulted in the locations of the Millennium Items being revealed, and the three Egyptian God Cards coming into his possession. Placed on a stone tablet that professed to chronicle a battle between the Pharaoh and Seto, the cards and the Puzzle opened a gateway to Ancient Egypt, through which the soul of the Pharaoh was pulled. Back in his original body, but still lacking in his memories, the Pharaoh was reunited with his priests, and Akhenaden's treachery was revealed as the Spirit of the Millennium Ring, which had also travelled back in time, stole the Items from their owners and used them to resurrect Zorc

Millennium Puzzle
Accounts of how the Millennium Puzzle was removed from the Pharaoh's tomb are contradictory. According to Sugoroku Mutou (Solomon Muto), the Puzzle was discovered in the beginning of the 20th century by a team of British archaeologists. The members later died mysterious deaths, and the final words of the last man to die were, "The shadow games." Conversely, the manga later performs a retcon, stating that Sugoroku himself found the Puzzle in 1960. Hiring two guides to help him enter the Pharaoh's tomb, Sugoroku became the target of his guides, who planned to kill him so they could acquire the Puzzle for themselves. Both of them died along the way, but the spirit of the Puzzle saved Sugoroku. The first series anime uses the first account, while the second series anime uses the second account.
The Puzzle was eventually given to Sugoroku's grandson, Yugi Mutou, a game expert who, after eight years of trying, successfully reassembled the puzzle. Immediately, the magic of the Shadow Games was unlocked, and the soul of the Pharaoh, still dwelling within the puzzle, infused itself into Yugi's body, periodically taking control and transforming him into an older form to challenge others to contests. It would be some time before Yugi and his friends truly understood that a second personality was existing within Yugi, but once it became apparent, Yugi and the Pharaoh co-existed peacefully, and Yugi dedicated himself to helping the Pharaoh regain his memories.
The Millennium Puzzle, in addition to holding the soul of the Pharaoh, was able to fulfill one wish of the one who solved it, and heighten its owner's chance of success in a game judging by his or her skill as well as the importance of the game at hand. The hieroglyphics on the puzzle say, "The one who solves me shall gain the powers of knowledge and powers of darkness..."

Marik Ishtar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marik_Ishtar) with the Millennium Ring
Originally owned in by the priest Mahado, the Millennium Ring - possibly the darkest, most deadly of all the Millennium Items - was stolen by the tomb robber Thief King Bakura after he defeated Mahado in a Shadow Game. The Ring went on to wander throughout history, passing from owner to owner, until it eventually wound up in the hands of young Ryo Bakura, a gift from his father who acquired it on a trip to Egypt. Like the Millennium Puzzle, the Ring was revealed to possess a soul locked away within it, the unnamed "Spirit of the Ring," an evil force which periodically took over Bakura's mind, creating "Dark Bakura."
Yugi and his friends became aware of these facts when Dark Bakura used the Ring's primary power to displace their souls, entrapping them within lead miniatures, and he became their most constant foe, regularly working behind the scenes in his attempts to acquire all the Millennium Items - a task made all the easier for him by the Ring's ability to detect other Items, its spikes independently moving to point out the direction of the Items. It was long presented as a fact that the soul within the Millennium Ring was that of Thief King Bakura, although it was never explained how his soul wound up within the Ring. Following the extended adventure in which the heroes and villains were displaced in time to Ancient Egypt, however, it became apparent that Thief King Bakura and the Spirit of the Ring were separate entities, and the Spirit in fact revealed itself to be the soul of Zorc himself, or possibly an independent fragment thereof - the Spirit has on several occasions displayed the ability to fragment itself, installing parts of itself within the Millennium Puzzle and the mind of Hiroto Honda (Tristan Taylor). It has also allowed Dark Bakura to banish people to the shadow realm, render them unconscious and summon monsters and magic from the shadow realm to use himself.

Maximillion Pegasus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maximillion_Pegasus) (Pegasus J. Crawford in the Japanese versions) wearing the Millennium Eye
Originally owned by Akhenaden in Ancient Egypt, the Millennium Eye was plucked from his socket by his own hands when the Items were gathered to free Zorc. It, like most of the remaining items, then came into the care of Shadi's bloodline, who watched over the items. In the late 20th Century, the current guardian, Shadi, forced the Millennium Eye upon Maximillion Pegasus (Pegasus J. Crawford in the Japanese versions), who was wandering Egypt, searching for a way to restore his deceased love to life, and was chosen by the Eye.
The Millennium Eye allows the user to read the minds of others, which allowed Pegasus great skill at the Duel Monsters card game, as he would read his opponents' minds and deduce their strategies. Pegasus forced Yugi to participate in his Duelist Kingdom tournament by entrapping the soul of his grandfather, later doing the same to Mokuba and Seto Kaiba, but after being defeated in a Shadow Game by Yugi at the tournament's climax, he was confronted by Ryo Bakura, who tore out the Millennium Eye. Retaining possession of the Eye for a prolonged period, Bakura eventually gave it to Seto Kaiba as part of his plan to lure him into the ancient past. In the manga, as the modern Seto is not involved in this saga, Bakura instead gives the Eye to Yugi

Millennium Key

Shadi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadi_%28Yu-Gi-Oh%21%29) with the Millennium Key
The first holder of the Millennium Key in Ancient Egypt was Siamun Muran, who called upon its power to summon Exodia, the Forbidden One, to battle. As an end result of that dedication, the Millennium Key became one of two items owned by the guardians of the Pharaoh's tomb throughout history. Owned in Ancient Egypt by the priest Shada, the Millennium Key remained safe throughout the years, guarded by his bloodline, eventually being held in the present day by Shadi. The Key has the shape of an ankh. Its primary unique ability is its power to unlock the doors of a person's soul, giving the user access to the "Room of the Soul," where their thoughts can be observed, or the "room" can even be "redecorated," allowing the user to alter a person's personality. Additionally, it can make the user, and others, invisible, and may or may not allow them to sense any disruption of the Millennium Items' mystical energies that would be cause by an Item being taken from its rightful owner. The Key is also sometimes called the Millennium Ankh (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ankh)

Millennium Scale
When the original owner of the Millennium Scales, the priest Kalim, fell to Dark Bakura (Yami Bakura) in Ancient Egypt, he gave the last of his energies, and the Scale, to Shada, and consequently, along with his Millennium Key, they were kept safe throughout the ages, ending up in the hands of Shadi in the present day. The Millennium Scale can weigh a person's heart against the feather of Ma'at, the goddess of truth; if a person lies while being interrogated by the owner of the Scale, the side opposite of the feather will lower, as if weighted down by the person's sins, and if the side without the feather drops to the bottom, Ammit, the monster of the abyss, will consume the person's soul. This item also contains the power of fusion, to be used on monsters in shadow games.

Millennium Rod
In the Ancient Egypt Arc the Rod was owned by Seto Kaiba's past life. The Rod was used to potect his cousion the Pharoah. The previous owner was an unknown priest. In recent times, when the next tomb-keeper in line, Marik Ishtar, was unwilling to perform his duty, he was overtaken by the dark side of his personality. This "Dark Marik" stole the Millennium Rod and slew his father with the dagger concealed in the rod's shaft, only to then be sealed away within Marik's mind by his servant, Odion (Rishid in the Japanese versions). Nevertheless, the evil part of his mind continued to influence Marik's actions, making him believe that the Pharaoh was responsible for all his pain, and he formed the Ghouls organization (Rare Hunters) in order to acquire the three Egyptian God Cards, using the Millennium Rod's power to enslave and control minds, acting through many pawns, including Katsuya Jonouchi (Joey Wheeler). When Odion was rendered comatose, Dark Marik emerged, but when he was defeated and banished by Yugi at the completion of the Battle City tournament, Marik was free of his influence and gave Yugi the Millennium Rod. The Rod is sometimes refered to as the Millennium Scepter.

Millennium Tauk
Known as the Millennium Necklace in the English-language version of the anime series, this Item was originally owned by the preistess, Isis, in Ancient Egypt, and became one of the two Items owned by the guardians of the Pharaoh's tomb throughout history, eventually coming to be owned by Marik's sister, Ishizu Ishtar. The necklace allows its user to see through time, offering glimpses of the past and near future - futures whose outcomes can only be altered through the use of other Millennium Items. Using it to foresee her victory against Seto Kaiba in the Battle City tournament, Ishizu handed the necklace over to Yugi when her vision failed to come true, knowing that the necklace would no longer respond to her.

Pyramid of Light
Appearing exclusively in Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie: Pyramid of Light, the Pyramid of Light is not truly a Millennium Item; according to the novelization of the film, it was a failed attempt by Akhenaden (Aknadin in the English anime) to recreate the Millennium Puzzle for his son, Seto, to give him a power on a par with the Pharaoh, so that he might defeat him and assume the throne. The Pyramid was co-opted by the sorcerer, Anubis, who was then defeated in battle by the Pharaoh. Undaunted, however, Anubis sealed himself within the Millennium Puzzle alongside the Pharaoh and the other powers of the Shadow Games, eventually being released in the modern day when Yugi first completed the Puzzle.
Anubis sought to recreate his physical form by implanting a Duel Monsters card fashioned in the likeness of the Pyramid within the deck of Maximillion Pegasus, and then reanimating his own mummified remains, taking the Pyramid, which had been kept with them in his tomb. The Pyramid of Light card then fell into the hands of Seto Kaiba, who employed it during a duel with Yugi, using its ability to destroy the Egyptian God cards. However, now that the Pyramid was in play, Anubis could draw on the life energies of the two combatants, steadly regenerating himself. Taking Kaiba's place in the duel, Anubis seemed defeated when the Blue Eyes Shining Dragon destroyed the Pyramid of Light card, taking the artifact itself with it, but Anubis's spirit remained within the jewel at its centre, reforming as a giant monster, which the Blue Eyes Shining Dragon then destroyed, shattering the jewel and destroying Anubis.

The movie takes place after the events of the Battle City finals, Yugi Muto (Yugi Mutou) now being the number one duellist in the world, and owning the three Egyptian God Cards. The film first shows the events of when Yugi first activated the powers of the Millennium Puzzle. Yugi struggles to put the puzzle, but eventually solves it. At the same time, an archeological dig is taking place in Egypt . The archeologists discover the tomb of Anubis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anubis), the Egyptian Lord of the Dead. They also discover an odd blue pyramid (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyramid) similar to the Millennium Puzzle, known as the Pyramid of Light. When Yugi activates the Puzzle, Anubis is awakened, and kills the archeologists and destroys his tomb. Yugi is attacked by monsters from the Shadow Realm (the Shadow Realm doesn't exist in the Japanese versions or the manga) and he transforms into Yami Yugi (Dark Yugi a.k.a. Atem) and seals all the monsters, including a scary Kuriboh, back into the Puzzle. This story differs from the beginning stories in the manga and both anime series.
The former champion, Seto Kaiba is even more determined to defeat Yugi in a duel and comes up with a clever scheme to defeat Yugi once and for all, and obtain his God Cards in the process.
At the new mansion of Maximillion Pegasus (Pegasus J. Crawford in the Japanese manga and anime), Pegasus has a disturbing dream of the three God Cards being imprisoned in a triangular prism and being destroyed. He may have lost the Millennium Eye to Yami Bakura (Dark Bakura) long ago, but he still senses something is wrong. Yugi's grandfather reads in the newspaper of the archeological dig and notices the Pyramid of Light in a photo and decides to inspect it.
Kaiba heads off from his new theme park in his Blue-Eyes White Dragon jet to Pegasus' mansion. Pegasus is delighted to see Kaiba, but Kaiba is not bothered and asks Pegasus for a card that can defeat the Egyptain God Cards. Pegasus claims he doesn't have one, but after Kaiba offers to give up his three Blue Eyes-White Dragon cards, he reveals he does and Kaiba challenges him to a battle. Pegasus eagerly accepts.
At Yugi's high school, he, Joey Wheeler (Katsuya Jonouchi), Téa Gardner (Anzu Mazaki) and Tristan Taylor (Hiroto Honda) are ambushed by an army of duellists who all want Yugi's God Cards. Téa pulls Yugi out of the crowd and they flee, Joey and Tristan not far behind. Joey battles several duellists, including a Bandit Keith-like duelist who has an Injection Fairy Lily. Yugi appears and the duelists give chase, running down Joey and Tristan in the process. Yugi and Téa hide in a nearby museum (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Museum).
Kaiba and Pegasus start their duel in the mansion's basement. Pegasus pays 1000 life points to active Toon World and then summons Toon Gemin Elf and plays one card facedown. Kaiba summons X-Head Cannon and throws down two cards for later use. Pegasus uses Card of Sanctity, allowing both players to draw until they have six cards in their hands (the real card allows the person who activated it to remove all cards in his hand and field from the game to draw two cards). Then he activates Cost Down, downgrading all monster cards in his hand by two levels, allowing him to summon them more easily. He summons Toon Dark Magician Girl and has the Toon Gemini Elf attack Kaiba, reducing his life points to 2100, and forcing him to discard one of his cards (Monster Reborn). When he sends Toon Dark Magician Girl to attack, Kaiba uses Attack Guidance Armor and attaches it to the Gemini Elves and the Toon Dark Magician Girl destroys them. Pegasus uses Monster Reborn to resurrect them and then activates Ultimate Offering, allowing him to pay 500 life points to normal summon another monster. He sacrifices his Toon Gemini Elf to summon Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon, then pays another 500 life points to summon Toon Summoned Skull (In the real game, summoning these two toons are considered special summons, and Ultimate Offering is not required, although tributes still are). Kaiba activates Dark Core and Soul Release to remove his X-Head Cannon and Y-Dragon Head from the game. Then he summons Z-Metal Tank and activates Return from the Different Dimension, allowing him to pay half of his life points to special summon all of his monsters that have been removed from the game. X-Head Cannon and Y-Dragon Head returns, allowing him to remove his three monsters from the game to summon XYZ-Dragon Cannon. He uses its effect to destroy Toon World and attacks Pegasus directly and wins the duel. He inspects Pegasus' collection of duel monster cards and picks up two cards and departs.
At the museum, Yugi and Téa discover the new exhibit featuring the Pyramid of Light and meet Solomon Muto (Sugoroku Mutou in the English original manga, Sugoroku Muto in the ani-manga of the Pyramid of Light) there. The three read a prophecy on the side of Anubis' coffin. The prophecy states:
The eye that's sees what's yet to come, its vision shall be fulfilled, unless blinded by events pre-determined, thus light and shadows both be killed.
Suddenly, a flash of light blinds the three and Yugi sees a vision of Yami Yugi and Kaiba dueling and Anubis seizes Kaiba. Yugi awakens and discovers the mummy and the Pyramid of Light have both vanished. Yugi heads out to find Kaiba and spies Mokuba Kaiba in Kaiba's limousine. Mokuba tells Yugi to come with him to the Duel Dome with his dueling deck. Joey and Tristan see Yugi drive off in the limousine and they follow.
Yugi arrives at the Duel Dome and heads up, having a supernatural conservation with Yami Yugi about the past events, believing he had a battle with Anubis many years ago. Kaiba prepares for the duel of the millennium and Yami enters.
Joey and Tristan arrive to view the match and Mokuba seals the exits of the dome so Yugi cannot flee. Kaiba and Yugi begin the match, Joey and Tristan worrying for Yugi's safety. Kaiba summons Familiar Knight in defense mode. Yugi destroys it with Queen's Knigh, but Familiar Knight's effect allows both players to special summon one level 4 monster from their hand. Kaiba chooses Rare Metal Dragon while Yugi chooses King's Knight and, due to King's Knight' effect, he also summons Jack's Knight (http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Jack's_Knight) (in the real game, King's Knight's effect can only be activated if it was normal summoned, not special summoned) and ends his turn by setting Mirror Force face-down. Kaiba draws the Pyramid of Light card and puts it on the field. Yugi draws Slifer the Sky Dragon and sacrafices his three knights to summon it. Its attack points are 1000X the number of cards in Yugi's hand. Since he has three, Slifer has 3000 attack points.
Slifer attacks and destroys Kaiba's dragon, minusing his lifepoints down to 3400. Kaiba uses Obligatory Summon to make Yugi summon the other two Gods, Obelisk the Tormentor and the Winged Dragon of Ra. Kaiba bursts out laughing and reveals his entire strategy was to summon all three Gods so he can destroy them all at once. He reveals the Pyramid of Light and activates it, causing an enormous version of the real thing to form, destroying the Gods in the process (the real Pyramid of Light has the effect of removing Andro Sphinx and Sphinx Telei from play when it is destroyed). A giant vortex appears and sucks Yugi into the Puzzle, leaving Yami behind. Joey and Tristan are also sucked inside the Millennium Puzzle. The Pyramid starts to destroy the dome a beam of light into the sky. Yugi finds himself inside the Puzzle and searches for the Pharaoh. Joey and Tristan wake up and look about for Yugi.
In the Pyramid, Kaiba mocks Yami and continues the duel and activates Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Yugi's face-down Mirror Force. He then summons Peten the Dark Clown and attacks Yugi directly, causing him lose energy and 500 life points. Yami summons Magician's Valkyria to destroy Peten, reducing Kaiba's life points to 2300. However, destroying Peten allowed Kaiba to activate Deck Destruction Virus, discarding 10 cards from Yugi's deck. Also, Peten's effect allows him to summon another Peten the Dark Clown when it is destroyed, by removing it from the game. Kaiba now summons Des Feral Imp, and uses Card of Demise to draw five new cards as long he discards his entire hand in five turns. Then he activated White Dragon Ritual, allowing him to sacrafice his imp to summon Paladin of White Dragon. It destroys Yugi's Magician's Valkyria and he loses more energy and 300 life points, now down to 3200. Kaiba then summons the mighty Blue-Eyes White Dragon by sacrificing his Paladin of White Dragon.
Yugi, still wandering the corridors of the Puzzle, spies what looks like Yami Yugi and chases him into an odd room where he sees Anubis' tomb. An army of mummies emerge from their coffins and chase Yugi. Yugi races by Joey and Tristan, who spy the mummies and run as well, Tristan making a quick reference to Scooby-Doo.
Téa and Grandpa Muto appear and see the Pyramid of Light. Mokuba appears and Grandpa explains the legend of Anubis to the two, and they have to find a way to get Yugi and Kaiba out of the pyramid. Back in the duel, Yami activates Premature Burial, paying 800 life points to summon Magician's Valkyria from the graveyard. Then he activates Mage Power, giving Valkyria 500 extra attack and defense points for every spell or trap card on his side of the field. He sets two, giving him a total of four and raising Valkyria's power to 3600. He attacks, but Kaiba uses Attack Guidance Armor to redirect the attack at Peten, who is destroyed. This activates the effect of Deck Destruction Virus again, sending 10 more cards, including Dark Magician Girl, from Yami's deck to the graveyard. Kaiba can also special summon another dark clown. He draws another Blue Eyes, then fuses his three dragons to form the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon. It destroys Valkyria and strikes Yami, reducing his lifepoints to 1500.
Yugi, Joey and Tristan escape the mummies and they see the two Puzzles fighting. The three watch footage of Yami Yugi's and Kaiba's duel. The three head back to Anubis' tomb.
Yami Yugi tries to stop Kaiba from continuing the duel because when they lose lifepoints, their life energy is drained into Anubis, but Kaiba begins to rant and rave again. Yami Yugi is not beaten yet and uses Monster Reborn to bring back Dark Magician Girl. He then uses Sage's Stone to summon Dark Magicia. Yami Yugi then sacrifices both in order to summon the Sorcerer of Dark Magic. It can lower the attack points one monster on the opponent's field by 500 points for every spellcaster in the controller's graveyard (the real card does not have this effect). Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon's attack points drop to 3000, allowing Yami to destroy it and reduce Kaiba's life points to 2100. Yami then moves to attack Peten and destroys him. Kaiba tries to use the Deck Destruction Virus, but the Sorcerer negates the trap and destroys it (in real-life the trap would not be negated since it was already active). Kaiba uses Monster Reborn to resurrect the Ultimate Dragon and then sacrifices it to bring forth an even more powerful monster: the Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon. Kaiba then explains that his new dragon get 300 extra attack points for every dragon in his graveyard, since he has five, his shining dragon's attack points increase to 4500. Yami tries to weaken it with his sorceror, but the Shining Dragon can negate spell, trap, or monster effects that target it. It destroys the Sorceror of Dark Magic, tumbling Yami's life points to 200 (if Paladin of White Dragon was included in the Shining Dragon's attack power, this attack would have wiped Yami out completely). Yami tumbles to the floor in agony and Kaiba laughs triumphantly.
Yugi suddenly falls weak and Joey and Tristan help him get to the tomb. The Pyramid of Light rips apart the rest of the Duel Dome. Pegasus arrives in a helicopter and helps Téa, Mokuba and Solomon escape. Yugi, Joey and Tristan reach the tomb of Anubis. Anubis mocks them, explaining once he is fully reborn he will destroy the world with his monsters. Mummies come to Anubis' aid. Joey and Tristan stand by Yugi's side after he tries to shoo them away and Téa soon appears, leaving her body behind with the others. The four start to battle the mummies while Yugi searches Anubis' casket for the Dagger of Faith.
Yami manages to stand and summons Big Shield Gardna in defense mode. Kaiba sets Return from the Different Dimension face down and Blue-Eyes destroys Big Shield Gardna. Yami Yugi uses Pot of Greed and summons Watapon and Obnoxious Celtic Guardian (since Watapon was special summoned due to a card effect, Yami still had his Normal Summon for the turn). By Kaiba's turn, the Card of Demise he played five turns ago sends his Spear Dragon to his graveyard and due to this, the Shining Dragon now has 300 more attack points. Kaiba then uses Shining Nova, which will destroy the dragon and anything else (the real card doesn't have this effect). Kaiba tries to destroy the Pyramid so he can use Yami's own Egyptian God Cards against him, but Anubis intervenes and takes over the duel, knocking Kaiba unconsious.
Anubis special summons a pair of monsters: Andro Sphinx and Sphinx Teleia. Yami sets draws Reverse of Reverse and places it face down. Anubus orders Sphinx Teleia to destroy Obnoxious Celtic Guardian. Andro Sphinx destroys Watapon, and its effect states that when it destroys a defense position monster, half of its attack points are deducted from the opponents life points, so Yami loses 100 life points (Sphinx Teleia has a similar effect, except that it takes half of the defense points from the opponents life points. So when it destroyed Obnoxious Celtic Guardian, Yami should have already lost at that point. However, Obnoxious Celtic Guardian should not have been destroyed anyway, as it cannot be by monsters with 1900 or more attack points, and Sphinx Teleia had 2500). Yami draws his final two cards: Diffusion Wave-Motion and Exchange.
Back in the Puzzle, Yugi locates the dagger and uses it to destroy the Eye that sees what's yet to come and weakens Anubis. Yami activates Double Spell, sacrificing one card he can select a new card from Kaiba's deck and uses Monster Reborn to resurrect Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon (this would be an illegal move since the Shining Dragon cannot be brought back from the graveyard, even if it was properly summoned. Also, we never saw Yami draw Double Spell, so it's not known where he got it from, however, the Japanese version changes Yami's last drawn card to Double Spell). Blue-Eyes uses Shining Nova and destroys the Pyramid of Light card, this in turn destroys both of Anubis' Sphinxes. Yugi, Joey, Téa and Tristan are all returned to their bodies. Anubis looks on in anger as Yugi and Yami Yugi rejoin. Anubis summons Theinen the Great Sphinx (3500 attack points) since both of the other Sphinx's were destroyed at the same time. He feeds it with dead spirits, and its attack points go up to 135,000 (the real card allows the player to pay 500 life points to increase its attack by 3000 for one turn when it is special summoned). Yugi uses Reverse of Reverse, which allows him to use the last card played by Kaiba: Return from the Different Dimension. Yami explains to Anubis that Kaiba wanted him to destroy him with his own God Cards, and the three God Cards materalise before Anubis. They fuse together for infinite power and destroy Anubis and the Pyramid of Light.
Kaiba wakes up and Anubis appears, now a demonic dog creature who tries to kill them. Yugi uses the Blue Eyes-Shining Dragon and manages to destroy Anubis for good. Kaiba departs, reminding Yugi that they will battle again

this is very useful to someone who wants to know it but there's 1 problem under the section on the movie it says that the movie takes place after the battle city but it actually takes place after yugi beats dartz and free's him from the orichalcos because at the beggining of the movie it shows a few scenes from the series before on the big screen at the top and one of the pictures is the 3 egyptian gods vs the great labyathon it shows the gods in front of the clouds which was from that series
hey thats an idea u could put anything about the orichalcoos up there because that was an ancient force the only thing i remeber is that dartz lived in the ancient egyptian time and survived the fire at colelna i think and then he waited a long time to find the pharoh
