The account will then be deleted so dont get attached to any of your characters or equipment.

Most of us have both prophecies and factions. You can be in our guild with either.

Prophecies is more of an exploration game; factions is a bit shorter and faster paced and is probably better for people who like action games rather than exploration/empire building games. You jump the same characters back and forth between the two if you have both of them (they are two continents on the same planet.) The game interface runs the same software for both, only the nature of the missions changes between the two. Nightfall takes place on a third continent. There is also a shared PvP area with several different types of arena battling.

DPaladin says you can get Prophecies for $40 at a store. Factions may go down once nightfall is released, but it is still $45 or 50.

Here is the answer to all the "Can I keep my nightfall character" questions I have been getting:

At the end of the event, all Nightfall characters that players have created and all Nightfall items they've acquired will be removed from participating accounts.

Per their web site (which has been wrong before) everything related to nightfall will be deleted after the event.
