Well folks the frost is on the pumpkin and that means another hockey season is upon us. As you may know I am a diehard Blueshirt fan and there poweplay finally took life. After an 0 for 42 they scored two in a row in a 5-3 romp of the Bruins Jaromir Jagr scored a goal and added an assist in his first back to back appearance since dilocating his shoulder which is good news. Here begins our hunt for Lord Stanley's cup.

The Rangers were dealt there first defeat tonight at the hands of the Phlyers. :( Ironically enough it was Phillie's first win. Kasperitis is still out nursing a shoulder and recovering from a hernia op. Though they still remain in first in their division. Go BLUE

Come on man there's gotta be some hockey fans out there. The Rangers ended a three game skid today in a 4-2 win over the rival powerhouse Devils. After a scoreless first, the Blueshirts erupted for three second period goals. They showed off some off season free agent aquisitions in D. Aaron Ward who got his first in the NY sweater, and Brendon Shanahan(NHL goals leader).

Of course there are other hockey fans. But all the good hockey is now out here in the west. I mean, really. The rangers are only playing 50/50 and are at the top of their division? *cough* *chortle* *snicker*

Buffalo and Atlanta are all you got for teams back east...

I have to support the Sharks because without them we would have no real hockey in north california. Red Wings would otherwise probably be my favorite team, at least under Bowman and Yzerman they were...

But Sorry USO, we are enemies anyway since my Dad went to Ohio State (Buckeyes!). Hmmm - I guess college football is off topic ... better stay off topic since I dont even want to discuss the Blue Jackets...

Wow I can't believe the only hockey fans around are for the Red Wings, The Sharks or The Rangers! Where's all the canadian hockey fans? There have to be some because we are the best fans around. Now me I'm a Montreal fan, always have been, always will be. Got a great team this year, except Souray went and got hurt again(of Course) . But whats even better this year is that Toronto is stinking the place up(Yahoo!) Go Habs Go!

Go Habs Go!Yeah well Montreal's the only Canadian team with a better record than the Blueshirts who incidently dropped to second in their division to the Devils by one point. Good story though... I worked a job in upstate NY right across the road from the Rangers/Nicks trainin' facility and Kasperitis jogges on the road there just about every day that they're in town. I brought one of my jerseys and a silver sharpie and waited for him. He came runnin' past me and I tried to stop him but he said he couldn't stop so I thought he was blowin' me off. I waited a while outside and he drove out, stopped and singed my sweater. He then asked me if I was waitin' just fer him and when I said yes he thanked me.

Its good to know that some of these guys actually appreciate their fans and are not just overpaid, pampered celebrity wannabes...

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Penguins owner Ron Burkle traveled to Las Vegas on Wednesday to meet with the mayor and discuss the possibility of relocating the team there.

Burkle, who lives in Los Angeles, led a delegation in talks with Las Vegas Mayor Oscar B. Goodman, according to Penguins spokesman Tom McMillan.

Meanwhile, Burkle and co-owner Mario Lemieux all prepared to meet with state, county and local officials on Thursday in Philadelphia to try to resolve differences over plans for a new arena in Pittsburgh.

Elena Owens, a spokeswoman for Goodman, confirmed the meeting with Penguins officials and said, "they had a very pleasant conversation." She declined to elaborate.

The Penguins issued a letter Monday saying the team planned to actively pursue relocation. It blamed government officials for failing to reach a deal to build a new arena in Pittsburgh.

In the letter, Lemieux and Burkle said negotiations had stalled, even though the team agreed to pay $120 million over 30 years toward a new $290 million arena and to cover any cost overruns.

Gov. Ed Rendell said Wednesday he was optimistic the team would remain in Pittsburgh. A day earlier, Rendell's office said the governor has put "an exceptionally attractive offer on the table." He later said officials would ask the NHL to intervene if the team didn't accept the deal.

Officials in Kansas City have offered the Penguins free rent and half of all revenues if they agree to play in the soon-to-be-completed $262 million Sprint Center.

The Penguins' lease at 46-year-old Mellon Arena, the oldest facility in the league, expires June 30. The Penguins have repeatedly said they may move, or sell the team to a buyer who would relocate the franchise if an arena deal isn't in place by then.

Well, it looks like the Rangers are going to make the playoffs.

Good thing they aren't on the West Coast, or they would be scheduling tee times already... :)
