Well now that I have finished NF I am trying to do more elite missions.

The Deep I am very proficient at now so I am starting GoA.

I am getting into groups late night so I can learn the builds methods.

They are more difficult than the Deep and consequently only specific team builds with specific plans succeed - and then only if everyone performs their task well.

The elite missions are about the only area left that you just dont hero/hench things. You need a team of people working together and I find I am missing the team of people part of the game.

If anyone has completed nightfall with a Monk or Ele and wants to join me, I am sure we can get into a group. You will need a specific build so we need to get your skills and builds set up in advance. IN GoA you have no business being the tank until you have learned the quests and position. They run one tank with enchantments so you have to have a good knowledgable tank or it wont work.

They also make use of ranger spirits, and it usually falls to the Necro to run secondary Ranger to put these spirits up. (I am running Necro there and few groups need more than one). Monks and Eles are most needed.

I am more than happy to try doing this elite mission with you. I've beat the game with my monk and have all the builds, and I am almost finished with my elementalist. Just let me know when you want to do it and I will be there.

I haven't done a deep run in a long time, I need to do that. I have gotten my tank through Nightfall finally and Don has offered to take my noob tank into DoA and train me.

I am also currently working on getting a monk and and ele through nightfall. Like you Dave, I miss the team part of the game. I have become so used to hero/henching everything that I have forgotten what it is like to play with live people.

So, hollar at me in game so a bunch of cause experience DoA together. :)

From what I have heard - Dervishes in DoA get the same treatment as Rangers and Sins in the Deep.

(They are either politely told that they will have a hard time getting a team or they get the "STFU Noob" treatment.)

That isn't exactly true. An obsidian dervish can easily take the place of the tank. Many people won't take them, though, because no one wants to deviate from the "norm". This is a common build used for a dervish in DoA: http://www.pvxbuilds.com/index.phptitle=Build:D/E_Obsidian_Dervish
It can also be done with a shadow form assassin, but we all know how most people feel about assassins, so I wouldn't recommend trying to get a group as one. :)

I didnt say it couldnt be done; I have seen both of my example treatments given an "OF Dervish LFG" in GoA.

That was my point, nobody wants to vary away from what they know works. A dervish is just as good, if not better in some cases, then a tank, but since they don't fit the standard team build up they are usually rejected.

It is hard to fault people for that attitude. These elite missions are so long. No one wants to spend 1-3 hours and then fail near the end because someone is running a build that wont quite handle one specific area. Since GoA teams run only one tank, if the tank isnt good (with the right skills and tactics for every scenario) then 8 people just wasted a bunch of their time.

FoW is a good elite area just for the reason that it is NOT so hard that you have to be inflexible with the team build, and there are many short quests you can go in and do (even if one or two people leave or disconnect).

I think that Anet messed up with these elite missions that a standard balanced team can not accomplish. Requiring teams to use necrotic traversal, recall or rebirth to get through gates did the exact opposite of what they intended. Instead of inspiring creativity, they force custom cookie cutter team builds that have to make use of one or two skills.

I think u they should have made it a 12 man party and this mission actually get easier if ur have a higher lightbringer title. And u can do this missions without the recall and all that and do it the normal way.I'm sure there are other team builds that will work and the best way of trying it is with guildes and friends ..i mean u dont pay to go in so nothings lost.I'm in if u guys wanna do this elite or try something new for that matter.I would like to try it on hard mode too:).

I have done a Veil group in hard mode. You get a TON of LB points (6 per demon and you kill 120+ demons in the first part.
