The LOTRO community is one of the most positive and supportive I have ever played in.
Here is an example that happened last night: (Names changed to protect the involved).
Newbie shouts over global channel. "Does this game ever get better? I am tired of getting my butt kicked by 2 monsters my level."
Player1 responds "Your level means you can only safely handle them one on one."
Newbie shouts "These bandits always come in twos and threes".
Player2 responds "That is a hard low level area. Go to town and take a horse ride to the elf or dwarf starter towns and do the quests there.
Player3 chimes in "Hate to say it, but his gear *****."
Player1 shouts "What are you using"
Newbie says "Store bought medium armor and some quest daggers"
Player2 says "Player crafted gear is almost always better, what crafting profession are you?"
Newbie says "Just Explorer, and only level 10."
Player2 says "Explorers can craft their own armor, much better than the store bought"
Player1 says "I will craft you a weapon in a few minutes, where are you?"
Newbie says "In the crafting hall, Player3 is walking me through crafting my armor."
Thought it might be good to give an example of what a good gaming community can do for a game. A player that might have quit is probably going to end up thinking its the best game ever.
