Cyber Phoenix Abilities

While this card is in face up Attack Position, negate the effects of any spell or Trap that targets 1 machine type monster you control. When this face up card attackes or is attacked, and it is destroyed by battle and sent to the graveyard you can draw 1 card.

Someone explain to me the Following.

If Cyber Phoenix is the only card on the field and it equipped with premature burial and its effect state it can
" negate the effects of any spell or Trap that targets 1 machine type monster you control"

If I use Mystical Space Typhoon On premature burial to destroy premature Burial, tell me how is it possible for Cyber Phoenix to still remain on the field when it was equiped to Pre-Mature Burial which I just destroyed?

The cards effect state I need to Target a machine type monster which I did not do because I targeted a spellcard which was in the back row though the spell card was equipped to cyber phoenix. when premature was destroyed I believe Cyber Phoenix should have been destroyed also since no spell or trap was used on it.

So in essence it means that cyber phoenix cannot be destroyed by spells or traps, only effects or attacks can destroy it, if that is the case, then that info should be written on the card.

Lets hear your input on this subject.

When "Mystical Space Typhoon" destroys the "Premature Burial", at this time, you didn't target "Cyber Phoenix". However, when "Premature Burial" was destroyed, the effect of [If this card is destroyed, detroy that monster] will start, and this is the time that target to "Cyber Phoenix".

Premature Burial's effect try to destroy "Cyber Phoenix" but since it is equipped spell card and it is targeted, "Cyber Phoenix" won't be destroy by his own effect.

You didn't target "Cyber Phoenix" DIRECTLY! but it is because the effect of Premature Burial itself.

Cheers!

Kaiba's right. Even though you don't target Cyber Phoenix, Premature does.
Phoenix's effect stops spells and traps that target it, it dosen't matter if the player or the card does the targeting.

That's one cool thing about Yu-Gi-Oh! to me, there's subtleties like this that can be found and exploited by keen players. The little things that can pile up to swing a duel in your favor, or be a game breaker. Even the best decks can be toppled by an inventive player using a new technique noone else has thought of.
