When you begin the game you are in a period know as PRE-SEARING.

When you accept the mission from TYDUS where he asks if you are ready to LEAVE EVERYTHING BEHIND. You will then do a couple missions and end up 2 years in the future.

I recommend NOT doing this until you are at least 5th level. You should stay in pre-sear until you have done all of the quests you can find and have all of the skills you could aquire. There seem to be enough pre-sear quests to get to about level 7 or 8.

The spiders in the catacombs under Ashford Abbey are your friends. There are also spiders in the south by Fort Ranik.

Sometimes thos spiders drop Dye. While useless and apparently valueless, dye is acually the most valuables treasure. Any Dye is worth money. Here is a rough estimate of what dye is worth.

Purple, yellow, orange - 60-100gp

Red - 100-150gp

Blue, Green - 200gp

Silver - 500-750gp

Black - 6000-8000gp (yes that is six thousand - not a misprint)

You can buy good weapons for less than a thousand and will want about a thousand to buy upgraded armor and materials when you get to post searing.

I agree with you leve 6-8 is a pretty good level to be on to go to the future. Enemies are just challanging enough and not to easy.

any tips for my lv5 ranger (Itachi already has a level 20 character that has been all the way through the game.)

Do QUESTS with henchies without regard for monster experience. Short quests with good experience and skill quests will do the most to strenghten you the fastest.
*
Go to Pikens Square (with 4 lvl 3 hench you should be able to do it); from there get a run to Grenditch Courthouse or Yaks Bend (or get thru Nolani Mission to get to Yaks Bend). You can also use the lvl 6 hench at Pikens to do quests and farm charr for xp.
*
At Yaks you can use the lvl 8 hench to beat on the lvl 8-11 stone summit and ettins to get XP as well as do skill quests.
*
Have your level 20 character farm (or just buy) a good bow and get your marksmanship high enough to use it ASAP.
*
Get a run from yaks to beacons to droks and get droks armor so you can farm experience longer near yaks and beyond.

Are these the going rates for dyes with anyone that we interact with online? Or just within our own guild? Why is dye so expensive anyhow?? I had a couple silver already and just wasted it on my armor. Should I have saved it for something else??

1> these are rate ranges inside the game that you can sell dye to other players or the dye trader for.
2> nothing to do with our guild.
3> people are insane. they will pay you 15k for 2 black dye and thank you for giving them a great deal.
4> you should have sold it for over 1k of money to buy armor with.

you can make all your money problems go away easy. on ebay and other places you can buy 100k for about $5-6 (once you are in post).
make sure you have no otehr money when they deliver it as 100k is all that a person can hold. your vault can hold more.

Changing the colors of your weapons...

Chaos Axes change really wierd colors that dont really match the dye you put on. Sombody actually made a chart. Want me to put a link in the knowledgbase?

I think the answer you are looking for is that it has NO statistical value in the game. It is PURE COSMETICS. As previously stated PEOPLE ARE INSANE.

People are definitely insane to pay so much for dye. And yes a chart would be great, just for curiousity more than anything else.

so much?
all the dyes are cheap6k highest quite cheeap

and tip:
if you keep dying its either your attacking and all the mob's are attacking you or you have wrong skills to match the place eg :your a mm necro in ring of fire
then thats the problem so try to use the right skills for the right place

I don't quite understand your tip so well. Thats just one big run on sentence and too many abbrev. for me to make much sense of it. Mainly the first half doesn't make much sense.:?:

Use ur Charm Animal skill, u must go out and look for a pet then use charm animal on it, note that while u charm the animal, it will attack u, don't do anything just wait for charm animal run off and that pet will be yours, also u can only have 1 pet at a time and it will go with u when ever u equip charm animal skill on ur skill bar, if u want to catch another one u have to dump it at tammer. And NEVER go catch animal with hench, they will kill it and u have to find another 1

The Good
Well-designed, interesting skill system and action-packed combat Tons of content--huge volume of cooperative and competitive activities Lavish presentation makes the whole world of the game look alive Technically marvelous--runs fast and smooth, loads almost instantly Has something for just about everyone.
The Bad
It can be difficult to find a good group of willing players for cooperative missions

While it's tempting to compare Guild Wars to any number of other fantasy-themed role-playing games, there's really never been anything quite like it before. It innovatively and successfully combines many of the best, most addictive properties of action RPGs, online RPGs, and competitive multiplayer games in one beautifully produced package, which offers a tremendous lasting value yet none of the monthly fees typically associated with online-only games. The first title from developer ArenaNet, Guild Wars threatens the entire online RPG establishment with its bold design. More importantly, it's a very impressive game that's rewarding on many different levels and can be tremendously appealing for any number of reasons.
They rate this game from 1 to 10 and gave it a 9.2 nice.

Gameplay 9 Graphics 10 Sound 8 Value 10 Tilt 9 Difficulty: Variable
Learning Curve: About a half hour
Stability: Stable

tsk tsk tsk, thats what they made heros for :)

btw,
PvE = Preety fun in the game, but
PvP = A little repetative unless all u do is HA/AB

Also, since its called "Guild Wars" its also preety focused on the core guild system. Guilds generaly come in a few different styles:

PvE General
Farming
Title Hunters (HM, etc)
PvP General
HA
GvG
and Faction Farming (fff/ab)

There are plenty of groups of players, just not always good ones...

Its the same classic problem in all MMORPGs with group quests. Guildwars has Heroes so you almost always only need 2 people. But thats why guilds were created in pretty much every mmorpg out there.
