Here I put brief explanations of what the various class roles are in "expert" adventuring groups. Also there are links to example builds and discussion threads regarding each.

Tank: Usually a warrior that is desgined to go into the middle of the enemy and absorb alot of damage. A "55 Monk" also will tank.

Bonder: Protection Monk- Primary job is to keep the tank alive and secondarily to assist healing/protecting others who get swarmed.

Healer: Healing Monk - stay out of combat and heal anyone in trouble.

55 Monk (Invincimonk): Monk - has max Health of 55. Then maintains enchantment skill that forces max damage taken to 10% of max Health. If you can only take 5 damage per hit and can get health regeneration up to about 10 then you are very hard to take down. Enchantment removing hexers (Mesmers) are the only significant danger.

Trapper: Ranger - specializes in using traps to slow down incoming monsters.

MM (Minion Master): Necro - raises fiend and bone horror minions. Starts weak but builds an army as enemies die.

Nuker: Elementalist - cast spells to damage multiple enemies.

SS: Necro - uses Spiteful Sirit to do damage to multiple enemies; should disrupt enemy healers with other curses.

A Nuker or SS with Arcane Echo or Echo (allows multiple casting of primary spell) would be an Echo Nuker or Echo SS.

With the sucess of the 55 Monk, there are now many other builds using monk secondary to make "invincible" solo farming characters.

More New Builds now in use:

B/P Ranger (Barrage/Pet): Use elite skill barrage to do lots of damage to massed opponents and pet to keep bad guys away from the party. Lots of Tombs and SF farming with this build. Usually have one healer and one MM with a few B/P Rangers. No tanks at all - Minions and Pets do the tanking.

Touch Ranger: Ranger/Necro that uses touch draining skills. These draining skills bypass armor and heal the ranger at the same time. They use expertise to reduce the energy cost of their necro skills so they dont run out of energy either. Only good method of killing them is to do Health Degredation (poison, bleeding, Crippling Anguish) and slow them down (like cripple or Heavy Burden)
